Milarepa
Milarepa was a healing monk and poet who lived in the early 12th century and spent his life wandering around Tibet, performing miracles, converting the nomadic people to Buddhism, and writing his 100,000 songs. He is widely considered to be one of Tibet's most famous yogis and spiritual poets, whose teachings are known in several schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
He was a student of Marpa Lotsawa and an important figure in the history of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He is also famous for having climbed Mount Kailash. Milarepa was the most important Dharma heir of Marpha.
Milarepa Statue
He sits on a gazelle skin, has short, curly hair and is dressed in monastic robes. He holds his right hand with outstretched fingers to his right ear, as if he were listening to the echo of nature. In his left hand he holds a begging bowl.
Copper figure, cast in traditional lost wax technique, decorated with filigree, silver-plated and gold-plated with colored gemstones.
