Akshobhya Buddha - The Source of Unfailing Purification. His name means 'unshakable', and his presence is of great significance in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Akshobhya, the fifth of the Dhyani Buddhas or Wisdom Buddhas, resides in the eastern direction and radiates an exalted calmness. In Tibet, he is revered as 'Mitrugpa', the one who is never disturbed by anger or aggression.
The Akshobhya statue carries the 5-pointed crown and the full adornment of a Transcendent Buddha. His robe and the lotus pedestal are decorated with fine filigree. He holds an upright Vajra scepter in his left hand, and his right hand touches the earth in the Bhumisparsha Mudra.
