Amitayus, the Long-Life Buddha, is revered as a source of wisdom and spiritual vitality.
He is seated on a lotus base, with his legs in Padma Asana (full lotus posture), and his hands in Dhyana Mudra, the gesture of meditation. In his lap, he holds a vase filled with Amrita, the nectar of immortality. Four pearl necklaces hang from the lid of this sacred vessel, symbolizing timelessness and the unbroken continuity of spiritual life. A silk scarf is draped around his arms. The figure is crowned and adorned with the full jewelry of a Bodhisattva.
The teardrop-shaped halo behind his crowned head is finely decorated with filigree ornaments, set with carved turquoise and lapis lazuli stones. The ornate background emphasizes the sanctity of the figure. The draped scarf has a deep blue inlay of carved lapis lazuli. His garment and the lotus base are also filled with fine filigree elements accented with colored stones.
The Tibetan longevity ceremony - a practice dedicated to Amitayus - is a profound blend of Buddhist devotion and cultural tradition rooted in a centuries-old spiritual heritage of various Buddhist schools.
The detailed craftsmanship makes this statue a powerful object of devotion. It is also a timeless heart piece for the Buddhist household altar or a sacred space.
