Bhaisajyaguru, also known as the Medicine or Healing Buddha, is renowned for his twelve great vows that promise spiritual and physical healing. It is said that he offers support to believers and brings well-being when worshiped with devotion. His veneration plays a central role in various Buddhist traditions and is considered a source of hope and health.

The statue depicts him as a Buddha, with a characteristic urna, a small, round protuberance above the nasal bridge, as well as the ushnisha, a prominent elevation on the head, both of which are among the distinguishing features of a Buddha. His short, curly hair is also a typical characteristic.

In this detailed portrayal, Bhaisajya Buddha wears monastic robes and sits in the lotus position on a richly decorated throne with a Nimbus, emphasizing his exalted status. His left hand rests in the meditation posture (Dhyana Mudra) in his lap, while his right hand makes the gesture of generosity (Varada Mudra) and holds a branch of the healing plant Myrobalan, which mainly grows in tropical regions and is known for its healing properties.

The Medicine Buddha's robe is decorated with fine filigree, matching the beauty of the throne and the Nimbus that forms the radiant aura around the statue. The floral and geometric filigree ornaments are accented with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. The connection between the filigree-embellished silverwork and the natural stones gives the entire sculpture a luxurious radiance.

The Medicine Buddha statue is made of copper and manufactured using the traditional lost-wax casting method. The filigree decoration is silver- and gold-plated. The throne and the Nimbus of this Bhaisajyaguru figure are artistically inlaid with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. The patination of the statue provides an antique finish that underscores the timeless beauty of the figure.
