Chenrezig with consort in Yab-Yum

Chenrezig, also known as Khadchheri, is an incarnation of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who is also known as the six-syllable Lokeshvara. The six syllables of his mantra OM MANI PADME HUM are considered particularly powerful and are frequently carved into rock walls or recited by devotees. Avalokiteshvara stands under the sign of great compassion.

The Chenrezig statue sits in a full Lotus Position, Padma Asana, on a lotus base. The female figure is seated facing him on his lap. Chenrezig is depicted with four arms, holding a rosary in his right hand and a fully blooming lotus in his left hand. The two main hands embrace his consort, who sits on his lap. He holds the magical jewel Cintamani with palms joined together, which fulfills wishes. His consort holds a skull cup in her left hand and a knife called Kartika in her right hand. Both wear the full jewelry of a Bodhisattva, including the five-pointed crown, earrings, and malas. On his head, in his hair, there is a small Amitabha Buddha figure. Her face has a third eye on her forehead.

The robe of Chenrezig and the lotus base are decorated with fine silver filigree ornaments and colored stones. The base is bordered with a frame of setting turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli.

Chenrezig Yab-Yum 

Statue made of copper, cast using the traditional lost-wax process, decorated with fine filigree, silver-plated and gilded, accented with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli stones. The statue is patinated for an antique finish. The faces are set in gold. Handcrafted in Nepal.
