Gampopa
Gampopa
Gampopa Sönam Rinchen, also known as Dagpo Rinpoche, is one of Milarepa's main disciples. He was the founder of the Kagyu monastic order and the lineages derived from him are called Dhakpo Kagyu. He founded Dhaklha Gampo Monastery where he continued his activities of teaching, meditation and welfare of beings.
Gampopa was born in a small village in Tibet. His father was a very respected doctor in that village. Gampopa learned his father's profession and continued his medical education by studying under doctors from China, Nepal and Tibet. He became one of the best doctors of his time.
After a stroke of fate, he turned completely to the practice of Dharma. Gampopa dedicated his life to teaching how to transform painful and difficult experiences into a source of well-being for others.
