Jetsun Milarepa was a healer monk and poet who lived at the beginning of the 12th century. He dedicated his life to spiritual practice, traveled through Tibet, performed miracles, and brought the nomadic people into contact with Buddhism. As a disciple of Marpa Lotsawa, he played a central role in the history of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He is famous for his hundreds of thousands of songs in which he recorded his life path as well as the tantric teachings in poetic form.

The statue of Milarepa depicts him in a relaxed, semi-closed posture sitting on a gazelle fur. He has short, curly hair and is dressed in monastic robes. His right hand is positioned behind his right ear with extended fingers and the palm facing outward, creating the impression that he is listening to the echo of nature. In his left hand, he holds a begging bowl, indicating his Buddha status.

His robe and the plinth on which he sits are decorated with fine filigree ornaments. Silvered spiral-shaped arcs are filled with small elements, accented with gilded pearl wire and colored stones.

This fine craftsmanship makes the Milarepa statue an outstanding work of art that adds elegance and spirituality to any Buddhist home altar. Handcrafted in Nepal, this statue not only represents religious significance but also the cultural heritage of the region.
