Padma Sambhava was a renowned and highly learned tantric saint from northern India. In the middle of the 8th century, the Tibetan king Trisong Detsen sent for the learned guru to come to Tibet. Padma Sambhava was known for his knowledge of Tantra and its effective application. He remained in Tibet for 50 years, founded monasteries, and taught the Tantra doctrine.

It is said that he subdued all evil deities in Tibet and spared only those who converted to Buddhism and promised to be defenders (Dharmapala) of the teachings. Padma Sambhava promised in return to include them in the Mahayana pantheon. He claimed to have received the books from the Dakini, from which he derived his miraculous power. At the end of 50 years, Padma Sambhava vanished in a miraculous way.

Padma Sambhava sits in a relaxed position on a lotus pedestal, his right hand holding the Vajra and his left, resting on his left leg, holding the Patra (skull bowl) with a vase of immortality (Amrita). In the crook of his left arm, he holds his symbol, the Khatvanga (tantric staff).

His royal robe is richly adorned with fine filigree ornaments. The silver-plated filigree and the accentuating gold-plated pearl wire create an intricate pattern together with colored stones. The figure is also worked on the back and can be displayed freestanding.

The Guru Rinpoche statue is a fascinating artwork that embodies spirituality and mindfulness. Whether on the home altar or as a decorative centerpiece in your home or office, it brings a special, inspiring atmosphere to any space. With this unique statue, you bring a piece of Nepali culture and spirituality into your home.
