Sahasrabhuja Lokeshvara is the cosmic form of Avalokiteshvara. He is depicted with eleven heads and one thousand arms.
The central statue has eleven heads and eight arms. The eight arms of Sahasrabhuja Avalokiteshvara hold or display the rosary, the lotus, the wheel of teaching, arrow and bow, the gesture of loving-kindness, Varadamudra, and the Amrita vessel. The front pair of hands, joined together in front of the chest, encircle the jewel. Additional arms are arranged on both sides of the figure in a semi-circular pattern, with the hands showing an eye on each palm.
Sahasrabhuja Lokeshvara has nine peaceful and one demonic face. The tenth head is fearsome to scare away demons. The eleventh head at the top is of his parent Tathagata, Amitabha.
The robe and the lotus base of the Avalokiteshvara statue are carefully decorated with fine filigree ornaments, gilded, silvered, and accented with colored stones. The background made of copper sheet is artistically designed with small repoussé shell motifs and painted. The figure stands on a double lotus base, resting on a three-tiered throne, adorned with a detailed temple banner. Made in Nepal, this statue combines traditional craftsmanship with profound Buddhist symbolism.
As an embodiment of universal compassion, Avalokiteshvara supports meditation, spiritual practice, and inner reflection. This statue transforms any space into a place of mindfulness, compassion, and spiritual power.
