This filigree-adorned statue depicts Sarasvati, the Hindu goddess of wisdom, learning, and arts. She is venerated equally in Hinduism and Buddhism.
Sarasvati sits on a lotus pedestal and holds a Bina, a traditional Indian stringed instrument that symbolizes harmony between knowledge and creativity. She is crowned and wears the full jewelry of a Bodhisattva.
A swan, her symbolic mount, accompanies her. In Buddhist symbolism, the swan represents spiritual clarity and discernment—qualities that aid in the path to enlightenment by helping to overcome inner obstacles. According to tradition, Sarasvati is also revered as the creator of Sanskrit, the sacred language of Hinduism.
The figure is made of copper and decorated with fine filigree ornaments. Each detail is handcrafted in Nepal. The elaborate filigree embellishments beautifully emphasize the spiritual depth of the figure.
A handcrafted artwork for the home altar, meditation area, or as a striking spiritual decorative element in the living space.
