This statue depicts the historical Buddha Shakyamuni in meditation posture, sitting on a finely crafted lotus pedestal. The right hand touches the ground in the gesture of calling the earth to witness (Bhumisparsha Mudra), while the left hand holds a bowl in the Dhyana Mudra—a classic motif of Buddhist representations.
The pedestal and the robe are adorned with silver-plated filigree ornaments in spiral shapes. Floral trims with colored, cut gemstones add luminous accents to the figure. The statue is partially gilded, including the pearl wire used for the trims. The filigree is silver-plated.
This object is an example of high-quality Asian craftsmanship. It is suitable as a decorative sculpture with spiritual symbolism—for personal retreats, meditation rooms, or as part of an artistic collection.
