The Adi Buddha Vajradhara is the Buddha without beginning and end. He embodies infinity and is regarded as an expression of Buddhahood itself. Vajradhara is considered the highest essence of all (male) Buddhas and is the tantric form of Shakyamuni. He is venerated as the main Buddha of the Father Tantras such as Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka, and others.

Vajradhara sits in meditation posture (Dhyana Asana) on a lotus base, accompanied by his consort. Together they show the experience of all-unity in Yab-Yum. Vajradhara holds his hands crossed behind her back in Vajrahunkara Mudra: in his left hand a bell (Ghanta) and in the right a Vajra ( thunderbolt). His consort wears a Kapala (skull cup) in her left hand and a Kartika knife in her right. Both are adorned with crown and lavish jewelry. His garment as well as the lotus base are decorated with filigree ornaments and set with colored stones.
