Bhaisajyaguru, also known as the Medicine or Healing Buddha, is famous for his twelve great vows that promise spiritual and physical healing. It is said that he offers support to believers and brings well-being when honored with devotion. His worship plays a central role in various Buddhist traditions and is regarded as a source of hope and health.

The statue depicts him as a Buddha, with a characteristic urna, a small, round protrusion above the nose, as well as the Ushnisha, a prominent elevation on the head, both of which are among the distinctive features of a Buddha. The short, curled hair is also a typical trait.

In this detailed representation, Bhaisajya Buddha wears a monastic robe and sits in the lotus position on a magnificently adorned throne with a nimbus that emphasizes his sublimity. His left hand rests in the meditation posture (Dhyana Mudra) in his lap, while his right hand makes the gesture of generosity (Varada Mudra) and holds a branch of the medicinal plant Myrobalan, known for its healing properties, especially in tropical regions.

The garment of the Medicine Buddha is adorned with fine filigree, which also contributes to the beauty of the throne and the nimbus that create the radiant aura around the statue. The floral and geometric filigree ornaments are accented with carefully selected gemstones, turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. The harmonious connection between the filigree-decorated silver-plated work and the natural stones gives the entire sculpture a luxurious radiance.

The Medicine Buddha statue is made of copper and is crafted using the traditional lost-wax casting method. Each piece is handcrafted in Nepal, giving the statue a unique touch. The delicate embellishment is further highlighted by the silver plating and gilding. The throne and nimbus of this impressive Bhaisajyaguru figure are artistically set with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli. The patination of the statue provides an antique finish that underscores the timeless beauty of the figure, while the face shines in golden tones, enhancing the majestic presence of the Medicine Buddha.
