The Tibetan name for 'Vajra' is 'Dorje'. A Vajra is the thunderbolt that destroys all kinds of ignorance and is itself indestructible. The Vajra is also a symbol of Indra, the king of the gods in Hinduism and Buddhism. In the context of tantric rituals, the Vajra symbolizes the male principle, held in the right hand, while the bell resting in the left hand embodies the female principle. This harmonious interaction between the Vajra and the bell leads to spiritual enlightenment and the overcoming of dualistic views. This shows its deep significance in the practice of Vajrayana Buddhism.
This special crystal Vajra encourages the mind to promote clear thoughts in meditation and radiate positive energy. It serves as a tool or scepter in the tantric ritual. The material itself is imperishable and symbolically represents the indestructible nature of the mind, illustrating the connection between the material and the spiritual.
