Milarepa was a healing monk and poet. He lived in the early 12th century and spent his life wandering through Tibet, performing miracles, converting the nomadic people to Buddhism and writing his 100,000 songs. He is considered one of Tibet's most famous spiritual poets, whose teachings are known in several schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
He was a student of Marpa Lotsawa and an important figure in the history of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He is also famous for climbing Mount Kailash. Milarepa was the most important Dharma heir of Marpa. These Mahasiddhas are the founding fathers of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhist schools.
Milarepa is always the greatest role model for the Tibetan people, who can inspire them for the Dharma (Buddhist teachings).

Milarepa is depicted sitting on a gazelle skin in the lotus position. He has short, curly hair and is dressed in monastic robes. He holds his right hand behind his right ear with his fingers outstretched and his palm turned outwards, as if he were listening to the echo of nature. In his left hand he holds a begging bowl.
