Shakyamuni Buddha statue, Siddharta Gautama, founder of Buddhism, the teller of truth
To distinguish the historical Buddha from the transcendent Buddhas, he is generally called Shakyamuni Buddha. Buddha Shakyamuni usually sits in the meditation posture Dhyanasana (crossed legs with the feet on the calves and the soles of the feet visibly facing upwards, also called lotus or diamond pose). With his right hand he touches the earth in the Bhumisparsa Mudra, with his left hand he holds in the Dhyana Mudra (gesture of meditation).
Body cast from copper, silver-plated and gold-plated, set with fine filigree ornamentation and colored stones. The face is set in gold.
