Shankha, Tibetan conch trumpet
Shankha, Tibetan conch trumpet
Shankha (Tibetan Dungdkar) is one of the eight auspicious and glorious symbols of Buddhism. The conch shell is used in Buddhist and Hindu rituals and celebrations.
This conch shell has the image of Bhaisajyaguru, Medicine Buddha, carved into it. He is seated in lotus asana and holds his right hand in the granting gesture, Varada Mudra. It holds a flowering branch of the Myrobalan tree.
This conch trumpet is a hand-crafted decorative item designed to decorate the home and spread a good spirit. The conch symbolizes the bliss of proclaiming the glory of Buddha through its sound. Like Buddha's Dharma, its sound awakens people from the deep sleep of ignorance.
