Chaitya (stupa)
Chaitya (stupa)
The stupa that represents the Buddhist universe is a Buddhist sanctuary. It is a hill-like or hemispherical structure containing relics, sometimes square and sometimes circular, with towers or steps on the capital. Each peak or step represents a heaven.
The top part is a point believed to be the highest peak of Mount Sumeru, a mythical mountain where bodhichitta* is lost in sunya*. It is used as a place for meditation. A related architectural term is chaitya, a prayer hall or temple containing a stupa.
*Boddhichitta = ("enlightenment mind" or "the thought of awakening") is the mind (chitta) directed with wisdom toward awakening (boddhi).
*Sunya = emptiness
You can use this stupa for many different purposes, such as yoga, meditation sessions, various Buddhist festivals and even as a precious interior decoration.
The crystal gives clear thoughts and positive energy.
