White Tara is considered the consort of Avalokiteswora, sometimes Vairochana. Tara is believed to protect humans as they traverse the ocean of existence. White Tara has a special connection with the pink lotus, which represents the emergence of wisdom from the dark depths of the mud and the blossoming of awakened wisdom.
