This exquisitely crafted collector's piece from Nepal depicts Vajrasattva, the Bodhisattva of Purification, in close union with his consort Vajragarvi. Together, they embody the inseparable connection of wisdom and compassion.
Vajrasattva and his consort wear the crown, jewelry, and sashes characteristic of a Bodhisattva. Vajrasattva is seated in Lotus Asana, the meditative posture, with his consort on his lap. She radiates strength and grace, holding a kapala (skull cup) in her left hand and a vajra in her right hand, symbolizing the transforming power of purification. He holds the vajra in his right hand and the ghanta (bell) in his left hand, positioned behind his shoulders.
His garment and the Lotus base are decorated with silver filigree ornaments in spiral and floral patterns, accented with colored stones.
When viewing this sculpture, one can perceive the meticulous craftsmanship and the tranquil spiritual presence. The statue is suitable as a special accent on a Buddhist altar, as a decorative element in the living space, or as a gift for individuals who appreciate Asian art and spiritual symbols.
