I am Shanta Shakya

I work in the field of traditional Buddhist art and am based in Patan, Lalitpur — the City of Arts.

Shanta hält eine stehende Kupferfigur in der Hand. Die Robe der Figur ist mit Filigran Ornamenten geschmückt.

My work emerges from engagement with inherited forms of Buddhist iconography and a craft practice passed down through generations. My skills developed through working alongside my father, Purna Bahadur Shakya, and include the filigree technique as well as working with copper, silver, and colored stones. From him also comes my understanding of Buddhist practice, the foundation of my artistic work.
