Stupas, chorten, chaityas
This collection presents multi-tiered stupas from Nepal, also known as chörten or chaityas. The objects are based on traditional Buddhist architectural and symbolic forms and follow clearly structured, hierarchical compositions.
The stupas are made of copper and crystal and are constructed in multiple levels. Their forms, proportions, and finials correspond to established modes of representation found in the Buddhist art of the Himalayan region. Executed as independent art objects, the stupas are characterized by a precise and balanced design.
