Green Tara statue with filigree decoration, 33 cm

Green Tara, the protector against the eight types of fear. Green Tara is a significant female Buddha. She is also said to have existed as a historical person – a Nepali princess who married the great king Songtsen Gampo and contributed significantly to the spread of Buddhism in Tibet and China.

In a graceful posture, she sits on a lotus pedestal, her legs in Lalit Asana. Her right hand gently rests on her knee, the palm facing outward in the mudra of generosity – a symbol of her boundless joy of giving. The left hand she holds in Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of teaching and discussion, with raised fingers, where the ring finger and thumb gently touch. Two Utpala, lotus flowers, bloom on her shoulders.

The robe and the lotus pedestal of the statue are adorned with fine, handcrafted filigree decorations. Delicate, silvered spiral forms combine with colored stones to create a harmonious pattern. The finely crafted ornaments testify to masterful craftsmanship and deep spiritual understanding. Each decoration is made in meditative handwork, resulting in a unique figure that expresses the deep symbolism of Green Tara.
