Amitayus statue carved from crystal - Buddhist figure with Filigree

Amitayus on a lotus pedestal, with aureole. The statue is worked in filigree, gilded and silver-plated, with a crystal and lapis lazuli inlay, set with colored stones. Known as the Buddha of Longevity, Amitayus is regarded as an emanation of Amitabha and holds a vase as his attribute.

Amitayus is seated in padma asana. His hands in dhyana mudra, holding the vase of long life. Behind the figure, a drop-shaped aureole frames the head. Amitayus wears the crown and full ornaments of a bodhisattva.

The body and face are carved from crystal and set into the metal figure. The shawl has an inlay from carved lapis lazuli. His robe, aureole, and pedestal are worked in filigree. Thin wire is bent into spirals, filled with small arched elements, and joined in an ornamental pattern. Coral, turquoise, and lapis lazuli are set within the filigree as floral accents. The figure is worked all around and suitable for freestanding presentation.

The statue follows the image traditions of Vajrayana art in the Kathmandu Valley, in which ritual identity, gesture, and ornament are brought together into a balanced iconographic unity.

Amitayus, Aparmita

A copper statue cast using the traditional lost-wax method, with an inset face and body made of carved crystal and lapis lazuli, decorated with fine filigree ornaments, silver-plated and gilded, adorned with coral, lapis lazuli, and turquoise. Finished with an antique patina.
