Created in the workshop of Shanta Shakya in Patan, Nepal. One of a kind.

Chenrezig, also known as Khadchheri, is shown here with his consort in Yab Yum, a form of tantric iconography in Tibetan Buddhism. Regarded as an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, Chenrezig embodies compassion within the Himalayan artistic tradition.

Chenrezig is seated on a lotus base in padma asana. His consort sits facing him in close embrace on his lap. He is depicted with four arms: the upper right hand holds a rosary, the upper left a fully opened lotus; the central hands are joined at chest level behind her back, holding the cintamani, the wish-fulfilling jewel. His consort holds a skull cup in her left hand and a kartika in her right. Both figures wear the crown and the full ornaments of a bodhisattva. A miniature figure of Amitabha Buddha is placed in Chenrezig’s hair, while the consort is shown with a third eye on the forehead. She is depicted wearing only her ornaments, which are set with small turquoise stones.

His robe and the lotus base are decorated with filigree. Fine wires are shaped into spiral elements and filled with small arched units, forming a dense and coherent surface. Turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli stones accentuate the filigree. A band of set stones encircles the lower edge of the lotus base.

The sculpture follows Vajrayana traditions of the Kathmandu Valley, where ritual identity and visual form often converge in characteristic tantric representations.
