Jambhala Yab Yum Statue – Buddhist Figure with Filigree
Shipping pause March 20 – April 23, 2026.
Jambhala, revered in the Buddhist tradition as the deity of wealth and generosity, is shown here with his consort Vasudhara in Yab Yum. Jambhala represents prosperity directed toward the well-being of others, while Vasudhara embodies the complementary female force of abundance.
Jambhala is seated on a lotus base in lalit asana, his consort seated facing him on his lap. His right leg is extended and rests on a small lotus blossom, on which a conch shell is also placed. The left leg is bent. In his right hand he holds a jambhara fruit, while in his left he carries a mongoose, nakula, spewing jewels. Vasudhara likewise holds a jambhara fruit—mirroring Jambhala’s gesture—and a lotus flower in her left hand. Both figures wear the crown and the full ornaments of a bodhisattva. Vasudhara is shown wearing only her ornaments. Jambhala is depicted with a third eye on his forehead. The faces display the wrathful expression characteristic of this iconographic form.
His robe and the lotus base are decorated with filigree. Fine wires are formed into spirals and filled with small arched motifs, assembled into an even ornamental pattern. Coloured stones are set into the filigree and form floral shapes within the ornament. A band of coloured stones encircles the lower edge of the lotus base.
The sculpture follows the tantric visual traditions of Vajrayana, in which posture, attributes, and expression form a coherent iconographic whole.
