Question about "Green Tara Statue – Buddhist Figure"
Created in the workshop of Shanta Shakya in Patan, Nepal. One of a kind.
Small gold-plated Green Tara statue. Green Tara sits on a lotus pedestal in lalit asana, her right leg extended. Her right hand displays the gesture of generosity, varada mudra. Her left hand displays the gesture of protection, abhaya mudra. Beside her shoulders bloom two lotus flowers, one fully open, the other still a bud. Known in Tibetan as Jetsun Dolma, Green Tara is a fully enlightened female Buddha and embodies compassion in action. She is regarded as a protector from the eight fears, ready to respond to the needs of sentient beings.
The detailed figure is cast using a modern process. Position and attributes follow the traditional iconography of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is suitable for a Buddhist home altar or meditation room and can also be part of an Asian art collection. The statue can be presented freestanding.
