This set brings together three central masters of the early Kagyu lineage: Marpa Lotsawa, Jetsun Milarepa, and Gampopa Sönam Rinchen. Each figure is crafted in copper and richly decorated with filigree and colored stones. All three share the same height (8"), proportions, and artistic execution, forming a coherent ensemble. Sets of this quality and consistency are rarely found.
Marpa Lotsawa
Teacher of Milarepa and transmitter of Mahamudra and Vajrayana teachings from India to Tibet.
The statue shows him seated with loosely crossed legs. The robe is crossed at the front and fully decorated with brocade-like filigree patterns. The pedestal features double lotus bands and colored stone accents.
Jetsun Milarepa
Poet, hermit, and one of Tibet’s most revered masters.
He is shown in the iconic listening gesture, with the right hand raised behind the ear. He sits on a gazelle skin with a subtly modelled gazelle head on the front of the pedestal. The robe opens loosely at the front and is richly ornamented with filigree and stone inlays.
Gampopa Sönam Rinchen (Dagpo Rinpoche)
Main disciple of Milarepa and founder of the Kagyu monastic order.
He is seated in lotus posture, wearing the Kagyu hat. His hands hold the Jewel of the Dharma. The robe, hat, and pedestal are fully decorated with filigree, creating a refined, brocade-like surface.
A unified workgroup
All three statues belong to the same artistic workgroup. Their matching height, proportions, and filigree decoration create a harmonious set. The dense ornamental patterns reflect a high level and the particular respect accorded to the teachers.
Cast in copper, decorated with filigree ornaments, gold- and silver-plated, accented with colored stones. The figures are patinated. The faces are set in gold. Handmade in Nepal.
