Vajra on Triangular Stand – Buddhist Ritual Object with Filigree

Crystal vajra on a triangular stand, worked in filigree, silver-plated and set with colored stones. In Tibetan, the vajra is called dorje. It represents the indestructible and diamond-like nature of enlightenment and is regarded as a symbol of boundless power.

This is a five-pointed vajra with a central axis and four outer prongs. From a rounded central element, the curved prongs extend outward and meet at the tips.

The vajra is made of quartz crystal, it is worked in filigree. Thin wires are shaped into spirals, filled with small arched elements, and joined into patterns. Bands of colored stones surround the central section.

The vajra stands upright on a triangular copper stand. The stand is likewise worked in filigree and set with colored stones. The stones are set into stylized vajra motifs.

The execution follows the established iconography of Vajrayana ritual art in the Kathmandu Valley, in which form, symbolic meaning, and ornament are brought together into a balanced composition.
