Vajrasattva, the Great Purifier, embodies one of the most powerful and profound healing and purification techniques in Vajrayana Buddhism. He is considered by Nepalese Buddhists to be the priest of the five Dhyani Buddhas. Vajrasattva is an Adi Buddha, a transcendent Buddha. His Tibetan name is Dorje Sempa.

Vajrasattva wears a five-pointed headdress, half a vajra as the top of his ushnisha, necklace, bangles and precious clothing. He holds the vajra in his right hand, palm up in front of his chest, and the ghanta (bell) in his left hand, resting on his left thigh. A band flows around his body that represents a flowing heavenly silk scarf. The figure sits in full Vajra posture on a lotus throne, (Padmansana), whose petals are arranged in a simple row. The statue is decorated with filigree ornaments in the shoulder area, upper arms, legs and lotus pedestal. They are partly floral, partly geometric and accentuated with set colored stones.
