Created in the workshop of Shanta Shakya in Patan, Nepal. One of a kind.

Green Tara is revered as a fully enlightened female Buddha and as a protector from the eight fears. She embodies active compassion and swift, responsive action.

The statue depicts Green Tara seated on a lotus pedestal in lalit asana. Her right leg is slightly extended, indicating her readiness to act. The right hand rests in varada mudra, the gesture of generosity, while the left hand forms vitarka mudra, the gesture of teaching. Two fully opened lotus blossoms appear beside her shoulders. She wears the crown and full ornaments of a bodhisattva.

The figure is finely modeled and fire-gilded (mercury gilded), giving the surface a warm, even gold tone. 

The statue follows the image traditions of Vajrayana art in the Kathmandu Valley, where ritual identity, gesture, and form are brought together into a carefully balanced iconographic unity.

Green Tara

Statue made of copper, traditional lost-wax cast, fire-gilded and decorated with turquoise and coral stones. Dusted with red vermilion powder for the finish. The face is set in gold. Handcrafted in Nepal.
