Created in the workshop of Shanta Shakya in Patan, Nepal. One of a kind.

Small gold-plated Mahakala statue. He stands on a lotus pedestal, framed by a flaming aureole. In his hands, Mahakala holds a kartika and a kapala. He wears a crown of skulls, with a thin naga, a serpent, draped around his neck. Mahakala is one of the eight wrathful deities and appears as a compassionate protector, guarding the Dharma and removing obstacles through the force of enlightened compassion.

The detailed figure is cast using a modern process. Position and attributes follow the traditional iconography of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is suitable for a Buddhist home altar or meditation room and can also be part of an Asian art collection. The statue can be presented freestanding.
