Shakyamuni Buddha Statue – Buddhist Figure

Small gold-plated Shakyamuni Buddha figure. He sits in padma asana on a lotus pedestal, touching the earth with his right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, while his left hand rests in dhyana mudra, holding an alms bowl, patra. Shakyamuni is the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, who lived in northern India in the 5th century BCE and founded the Buddhist teaching.

The detailed figure is cast using a modern process. Position and attributes follow the traditional iconography of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is suitable for a Buddhist home altar or meditation room and can also be part of an Asian art collection. The statue can be presented freestanding.
