Created in the workshop of Shanta Shakya in Patan, Nepal. One of a kind.
Small gold-plated Jetsun Milarepa figure. He is depicted in a relaxed, semi-open seated posture on a gazelle skin, his hand raised to his ear in his characteristic listening gesture. A disciple of Marpa Lotsawa, Jetsun Milarepa played a key role in the early transmission of the Kagyu lineage and is celebrated for the Hundred Thousand Songs, spiritual poems he composed to teach the path to enlightenment.
The detailed figure is cast using a modern process. Position and attributes follow the traditional iconography of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is suitable for a Buddhist home altar or meditation room and can also be part of an Asian art collection. The statue can be presented freestanding.
